Over five generations the Pacas family have been synonymous with quality, innovation and social responsibility. Their influence spans across the industry, including a state-of-the-art wet mill, 19 farms, roastery, exporting company, training centres, cafes and yes, even their own coffee varietal.
Finca El Retiro is located high up in the rich Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range where many Cup of Excellence winning coffees reside. Founded in 1927 by Fernando Alberto Pacas Figueroa, the farm grows 100% bourbon coffee and has been passed down four generations. It’s currently owned and managed by Alfredo Pacas.
This lot is a honey processed, red bourbon grown under a protective canopy of shade from the indigenous balsam and ingas trees. The coffee was hand-picked only when perfectly ripe and delivered to the Pacas’ family wet mill on the very same day.
El Retiro is a beautifully aromatic and flavourful cup with interesting notes of citrus and baking spices. A truly heavenly cup from high up in the clouds!
